The Environmental &
Climate Justice Committee

Chair: James Mosley

According to the National ByLaws, the Environmental and Climate Justice Committee shall (1) seek to address environmental inequities at the local level and advocate for environmental justice; (2) develop a comprehensive and holistic local agenda to reduce pollution; (3) advance energy efficiency and clean energy at the local level; and (4) develop and advocate for disaster resilient infrastructure policies and practices.

The NAACP Evansville Branch Environmental and Climate Justice Committee works to promote clean energy, environmental health, and climate resilience in our community. The committee is chaired by James Mosley, owner of the local company Envirokinecs.

Mr. Mosley recently represented the branch during Black Climate Week. He was invited by Susan Sirnic of Tri-State Creation Care to participate in their Saturday convention focused on Hope and Leadership in a Time of Climate Change.

During the event, Mr. Mosley shared how the Evansville Branch is working with community partners to promote electric vehicle charging stations and develop solar hub spaces in the region. He also had the opportunity to connect with leaders in the environmental field, including Janet McCabe and sustainable architect and builder Stephen Stone.

The conference highlighted the strong network of individuals, nonprofits, and businesses in the Evansville area who care about the future of our environment. As we face changing climate conditions, the committee encourages our community to think globally and act locally by supporting clean energy and climate resiliency programs.

Following the convention, TSCC board member Susan Sirnic shared this message with participating organizations:

Through partnerships like these, the NAACP Evansville Branch continues to work toward environmental justice and a healthier future for all. 🌱

“Thank you! It is always amazing to watch what happens when a number of tables are set up in a large room. At about 8:00 am on conference day, streams of people come in carrying a wonderful array of materials, scurry around a bit, and then the tables transform into a marvelous, multi-colored sea of exhibits that tell us all about the environmental movement in Evansville and surrounding areas. Well done, everyone!

While Tri-State Creation Care seeks to inform and educate on environmental issues, we also strive to connect like-minded individuals and businesses. Networking at our conference is extremely important, and I hope you were able to visit with many attendees as they explored the tables. In addition to broadening our conference, we hope you were able to share your organization or business in a way that will serve you in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to exhibit at this year’s TSCC Conference.”
