Legal Redress Claims & Complaints
If you have a Legal Redress, Civil/Human Rights, or Discrimination complaint that needs to be investigated, please click on the link below to download the NAACP Evansville Branch Legal Redress complaint form.
The NAACP Evansville Branch is not a law firm, does not have a staff of attorneys, and does not give legal advice. At the most, we can investigate your complaint and/or refer you to the proper agency/authority/attorney to handle your complaint.
We do not take complaints over the phone or without the completed complaint form. We will only investigate or make referrals for complaints that are for violations within our purview – civil and human rights violations or discriminatory in nature.
The Legal Redress Committee (LRC) is responsible for: (1) investigating all reported incidents submitted to the Branch; (2) providing assistance to Evansville & Vicinity Branch Unit 3048-B Community seeking relief for discriminatory acts; (3) supervising all litigation in which the Branch has involvement: and (4) keeping the national office and the branch informed on the progress of every case in which the Branch is a litigant.
The LRC Committee serves as a liaison between individuals needing help and organizations offering quality legal services in the Evansville & Vicinity community. If you are in need of immediate legal assistance, please contact a local attorney.
Please be advised that filing a discrimination complaint with the NAACP does not mean that the NAACP Evansville Branch will represent you in any legal matter. If you believe you have a discrimination claim, you must file a claim with the appropriate State or Federal agency in a timely manner. Failure to do so may prevent you from pursuing a claim in a court of law.
